Chosen Topic

The first idea that came through my mind is to create a project  using interactive narrative form. For my future career, I want to go into a digital design agency that does websites and animation. This project will be featured in the 'Degree Show' (my final year exhibition) and therefore this is the opportunity for me to unleash my talent, which is illustrating and web designing. 

I was thinking that I could add in social awareness into my project, this will allow user to know the consequences after they explore my artefact. The idea of the project is about Animal Abuse. 

We all know about animal abuse, but how many people cared about this? Sometimes, people do care but no action taken. I have seen people posting photos of animal abused and people started scolding on the picture or video saying that it is not right. BUT commenting on the picture or video cannot stop animal abuse from happening. Thus, I want to use an engaging way to tell people that this is not right and at the same time allowing people to learn a better way to decrease the number of animal abuse.

I researched on the topics I like and decided that I will be doing an interactive website.
These are some similar website that inspires me for my project.

1. Interactive Website Design

a.MOON

This is an interactive website that allows the user to turn around the story using mobile to control.
It is a campaign that uses the storytelling method to let the user aware of what's happening. The interactivity using mobile to turn the story upside down is interesting and new with an plus of storytelling and nice graphic that enhance the feel of the whole website.
Duration of animation : 1 minute

The project will be a campaign using website as a platform to show the outcomes and interactive storytelling (animation) with illustration that tells the message. Showcasing both my illustration skill and website coding skill.


b. Alien-Experience 
This website allow user to navigate and looks around the scene and some puzzle to solve to proceed to the next scene.

c. Find Your Way To Oz 
Find your way to Oz is a movie and this website shows the circus scene in the movie and allows the user to experience the feel by navigating with the things in the website. 

The interaction in the website is that the user can move their mouse in the web page and it gives them a feeling as if they are walking inside the scene. There are also more interactive navigtion in this website such as photo booth. The realistic artstyle and smooth navigation in the scene gives me the idea to create my project that enable the user to navigate with such a way and there's some sub interactive in it.

d. The Hobbit
This website let the user experience the scenes in the movie and also gives informations in different scenes. The user are able to navigate through different scenes and read their description.

The things in this website that inspires me a lot is the transition of the website. When the mouse is click and drag swipe across the screen, the image in the website moves in and out of the scene. The only thing that I don't really like is the heavy graphic that makes this website very laggy and takes a long time to load. More research will be done to see if there is any other option to create this effect but is less laggy.

Some other relevant interactive website sources that I looked into. I will futher explore more creative interactive website so I can do a comparison and help me to produce a better artefact.

Inspiration source:
I was browsing my facebook and saw my friend posting about some awareness campaign poster about animal abuse, so i thought of this idea to make a interactive website with animation/ story element to show the message to people.

These are some short animation that gave me inspiration from youtube.

Kagemono: The Shadow Fox
- The video is about friendship, choosing the right friend.

- A blind girl with her loyal pet dog.

Secondary Idea:
These ideas gave me more inspirations.. I may use these and find goods from them, probably be using good points from these sources and insert into my primary idea.

Start A New

This study blog is create for my Final Project - Project Planning Management. All research, inspiration, benchmark, making and working process will be documented in this study blog.

The first task of starting this project is to think of a topic that I would like to do. I question myself, what are my interests? What is my future ambition? How do I use this project to showcase my talent in this artefact? 

Things I learned from this course are animation, videography, website design and coding, game design, user interface and user experience etc etc.. from all the lessons learnt, I highlighted the field that I am most interested:-

Some extra interest I love is illustrating and crafts making. Since this is my final project and will be exhibited, I decided to produce a project that can show off my talent in illustrating and at the same time my design and technology skills. I would like to be a website designer and a animator. So, the creative digital design agency is my choice to be in the future. As a result, I choose to create my final project related to my future career.

To get an rough idea on what I want to do for my final project, I brainstorm myself by listing out things that I liked to do and get inspired by many other sources like reading books, listen to music, watching my favourite show etc etc.
